We all have that little voice in our head, that wants what’s best for us, and wants to protect us but often stops us from moving forward, making decisions and feeling at peace… The best way to make it stop is to ask questions about what it’s telling us!
Here are 10 questions, to begin to see clearer and realign ourselves with what’s essential for us. Here’s a piece of advice before you start: write your answers down rather than just thinking about them. Otherwise, you’ll just be adding fuel to that little voice you’re trying to quieten!
1) What do I want? What do I want more of? What do I want less of?
2) What’s important to me?
3) How will I know that I’ve got what I want?
4) What’s stopping me from getting it?
5) What resources* do I have available?
6) Once I’ve reached my goal and look back to now, how will I feel?
7) What question am I avoiding asking right now?
8) How can I make things easy?
9) What’s the first step I can take?
10) What else?
In my experience, it’s always preferable to write things down because it’s a good way to distance ourselves from our thoughts. It also enables us to see things, solutions and possibilities that we might have not seen before. Are you ready to write?!
* A resource can be internal (personal belief, memory, value, energy, etc.) and external (family, friend, mentor, possessions, money, etc.)
